The Book Nook
The Experts Guide to Foundation Piecing: 15 Techniques & Projects. (2006) by Jane Hall, C & T Publishing. This interesting book is a compilation of techniques and projects by fourteen well-known fibre artists; Carol Doak, Caryl Bryer Fallert, Ruth B. McDowell just to name a few. Each person shares her tips and techniques for foundation piecing. This book gives a history of foundation piecing and shows how to piece classic blocks, beautiful florals, optical teasers and how just about any design can be foundation pieced. Using a variety of materials there are 15 complete projects using different techniques including top and under pressed piecing, folded foundations, piecing with strips and more. I haven’t done a lot of foundation piecing but I am very interested in trying some of these techniques. I think some of these methods would be very useful for making landscape quilts. I’ve bought my own copy of this book to do just that! Phyllis Fitzgerald
